Eartha Kitt, the second actress to portray Catwoman in the popular “Batman” television series of the late 1960s, died today of colon cancer. She was 81.

It is an interesting sidenote that Kitt died on Christmas, considering she sang the original version of  “Santa Baby,” a saucy holiday staple on radio stations this time of year. Madonna recorded an awful version of the song in the late 1980s, which also is interesting because Madonna’s sex-kitten act owes a lot to Kitt – and falls short by comparison.
